Jamaica Outlook Review - Raising The Next Barack Obama Launch
Yet another author has been added to the growing list of the elite group of scribes on our fair island. She is Taniesha Burke and her book, Raising The Next Barack Obama, a guide to develop core principles for success in your child, was launched at Knutsford Court Hotel, Ruthven Road, St Andrew, on Thursday, January 29.
Parenting with Obama in mind
FIRST-TIME AUTHOR Taniesha Burke said recently that she hoped her book, Raising the Next Barack Obama: A Guide on How to Develop Core Principles for Success in Your Child, would serve as a template for inspirational child rearing. Burke, who has a master's degree in psychology, said the book is a guide for parents who want to maximise their children's potential. The book was launched at the Knutsford Court Hotel, in New Kingston, on January 29.
Throughout the work, recently inaugurated United States President Barack Obama is used as a point of reference to emphasise the core principles of determination and excellence. GOOD GUIDANCE "What Barack Obama has shown us is that with heart, commitment, dedication and good guidance, all of us, especially our children, can achieve greatness," Burke, a youth motivational speaker, told the audience at her book launch. "For all of us who are parents, I want to suggest that there is a Barack Obama inside your home today. It's just for you to open up and be willing to guide them," added the single mother.
Burke said the fundamental principles which contributed to the success of Obama Ð the first African-American United States president Ð are meticulously examined in her book. She said parenthood was one of the most important jobs for any individual, setting the foundation for successful nation building. "I believe that, as parents, if we inspire our children to be great, they will be great," Burke said. "If we mould them deliberately, they will positively impact the world." Burke is the founder of Preston Childcare Services, named in honour of her son, which is an online individual and group babysitting service.
